By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 193 signed in June 27, 2011 by H.E. Pres. Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III declared Month of May as Electrical Safety Month.
In line with this, the IIEE-UAE being the only Accredited Professional Organization (APO) of electrical engineers having the related electrical expertise is the one mandated to do and spearhead this activity.
The activity was started with an electrical presentation at the Bayanihan Execom Meeting held in the Philippine Embassy last May 13, 2016. Electrical basics were discussed in such a manner that it can be understood by a lay person. Questions were accommodated and answered to satisfy their understanding.
The second wave of the activity was held at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai last May 27, 2016. Some Chapter officers and members conducted the premises electrical inspection. The inspection was started from the Main Distribution Board and all through downstream of the electrical system, panel boards, sub-panel boards and branch circuits of lighting, convenience outlets/sockets, appliances and equipment.
The inspection was recorded and pictures of violations and hazards were taken for documentation. The summary of inspection result will be prepared and finalized report will be sent to the Consul General for recommendation and/or for rectification from their (tenant) end. Minor rectification of violations and hazards can be discussed with the consulate officials when and how IIEE-UAE Chapter can be of help to ensure or at least minimize safety hazards that were present in the consulate premises.
The Chapter expresses appreciation to the officers and members who participated in this years’ Electrical Safety Activity.
