IIEE-UAE Chapter in collaboration with IIEE-Southern Luzon Region supported the initiative of the Region’s “Bigay Liwanag” Project.
The Project was intended for Torrijos, Marinduque Typhoon NONA affected areas where IIEE members and local residents of the community were severely affected. The region’s project targeted to distribute SOLAR LED LIGHTs to provide a symbolic “glimmer of hope” to those affected areas. Power restoration was calculated to complete from two (2) to three (3) months, leaving the affected areas without electricity that Christmas and New Year Season.
The Project aimed to raise at least Five Hundred (500) units which were distributed this end of January. One unit of LED Light costs three hundred pesos (Php 300.00/unit).
Upon the call for help of the IIEE-SLR the IIEE-UAE Chapter acted accordingly and disseminates the call to the Chapter members. The Chapter collected the donations during the area meetings in Dubai and Abu-Dhabi Areas. The total collection amounted to AED 3,056.00 and was able to donate 130 Units of Solar LED Lights which is equivalent to 26% of the region’s target for distribution.
